Welcome
to the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Teacher Toolkit. This toolkit is designed
to meet the needs of directors, teachers, assistants, and parents to support
early learning in the VPK classroom. All the information included in these
folders aligns with the VPK Education Standards. You are encouraged to explore
each folder at your own pace and to revisit the toolkit as often as you like.
This toolkit may also guide decisions about professional development activities
identified by directors or literacy coaches. Please note that there are no CEUs or training
hours associated with the VPK Teacher Toolkit.
Each
toolkit folder provides content information, video, and resources that
support VPK teachers as they plan for instruction with their children.
Targeted areas include Language and Vocabulary, Emergent Literacy, Mathematical
Thinking, The Florida VPK Assessment, and English Language Learners.
In addition, each folder provides links to existing VPK courses and resources including Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors and English Language Learners in the VPK Classroom. Excerpts from these courses are included to provide additional support for teachers who would like to view video, specific content, or print documents that were used in the courses.
The video clips used throughout the toolkit show footage of teachers and children in VPK classrooms. To view the video clips, you will need:
